Follow the Beat of My Heart

1 John 4:18 (TPT) Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.

Beloved, be led by the sound of the beat of My heart. Resist the call of the world, which seeks to guide you through fear, guilt, and shame. You are My delight, and I created you for relationship with Me. Knowing Me is about so much more than a list of do’s and don’ts. It’s about more than work, projects, deadlines, and commissions.

Although I have placed purpose within you, your work in this world is still an avenue for your personal connection with Me. I have ordained that each day and every experience would provide you with opportunities to explore the depth of My heart. When you give in to the fear that you are performing wrong or disappointing Me, it creates unnecessary walls of separation between us. Remember: I desire to work with you, in you, and through you. Release the desire to determine what this journey must look like, for My plans for you cannot remain in the box of your understanding. Allow Me to lead and let us move together, always together, beloved.

Therefore, cease from striving and worrying. Fear not, for you do not have to go it alone. Take My hand, and let me lead you in this wondrous dance called life. Lay your head upon My chest, bask in the songs I’m singing over you, and let your feet be moved by their melody. Allow My Presence to intertwine with every area of your life. As you yield to My constant leading, joy, peace, hope will overflow.

Psalm 46:10 (NASB) “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Yielding to the Flow

John 3:8 (TPT) For the Spirit-wind blows as it chooses. You can hear its sound, but you don’t know where it came from or where it’s going. So it is within the hearts of those who are Spirit-born!”

Once I was in a prayer circle and the Father gave me an interesting vision about how the wind of His Spirit desires to move in the Body of Christ. As we stood praying, I saw a field of wheat and saw the Spirit-wind blowing through the stalks. As much as I saw it, I also sensed each one of us in that prayer circle was a stalk of wheat. In the natural, I sensed a slight resistance to the movement of the Spirit-wind, individually and corporately. The wind was blowing gently, and yet the Father reflected that our resistance in the flesh stemmed from fear.

What direction would the wind blow? Would the wind always be gentle or would it blow strongly? What if the wind blew so hard that it ripped us from the ground? And if it did… where would the wind take us? The wind could not be controlled, and, therefore, we were quite at its mercy. I sensed the Father’s desire that we would do precisely what I saw the wheat doing in the Spirit: He was calling us to be flexible and let the Spirit-wind move in whatever way He chose. If we were going to see a mighty move of God’s Spirit, it was clear that we would have to let go and trust Him.

As I have meditated on the nature of the Spirit-wind, I have also reflected on my personal journey with God. He has strategically broken natural and religious mindsets that have bound me and that, as a result, have restricted the movement of the Holy Spirit in my life. With each breakthrough, there has been freedom to live and move and have my being in Him. Yielding to the flow of the Spirit-wind has been what I call “scary-good;” it has been like a wild rollercoaster ride that reminds me that I am quite alive and unlimited in Christ. How the Spirit moves me doesn’t always make sense to the natural mind, but it surely demonstrates the wisdom, power, and goodness of God.

If we desire to see God move in our homes, churches, cities, and nations, we must yield and give Him the freedom to move as He desires. Yes, He will certainly take us outside of our comfort zones and break the boxes we try to place Him in. And this is good because none of us can really perceive all that God has in store for us. Yet in the Spirit, there is surely a promise of boundless joy as the will of God and the Kingdom of Heaven is released upon the earth!

Surrender Out of Love, Not Fear

1 John 4:18 (TPT) Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.

Beloved, I would much rather you be moved to surrender out of your love for Me than by fear. You are safe with Me, and I never ask you to do anything that will not be of benefit to you. Yes, sometimes what I ask of you may be hard, and yes, I may stretch you. But I am not here to force My will upon you or arrogantly flaunt My power—love never demands or seeks its own way. Instead, I am seeking your humble agreement, alignment, and trust in My perfect will.

When fear tempts you to question My will and question My motives, simply pause and remind yourself of who I am. Understand that I am your leader, your head, and sovereign over all things. Remember that you are the apple of My eye and that all I do is done out of My great love towards you. While I will not always provide an explanation for the direction I am leading you, know that you can trust Me to always have your best interests at heart.

Yet also be aware that your submission to Me in every matter is a powerful force. Through submission, you communicate that you understand who I am and do not doubt My character or intentions towards you. You communicate to Me that you believe I am faithful. You demonstrate humility and give Me honor through your willingness to seek My desires above your own. Ultimately, you are communicating that you trust Me, and to trust Me demonstrates that you love Me. This is the very foundation of faith.

In the midst of surrender, when you walk in this level of faith, fear, distrust, or any other device of the evil one will fail to find a place in your life. Peace like a river will overtake you as you remember that you rest in the palm of My hand. Each time that you give Me your “yes” it is a powerful weapon in the spiritual realm. By submitting to Me, you are choosing to rest in My love, and you are affirming My Kingdom rule and power in your life. Rejoice, beloved, knowing that surrender is sweet! For surrender is always an opportunity for love to have its way.
