The Gift of the Present Moment

{vision} One day, as I was praying for wisdom in carrying out a long-term goal, I saw a vision of a Christmas tree with presents beneath it. In my spirit, I saw myself waking up each morning in the way I did as a child on Christmas morning—with a feeling of excitement, expectation, and hope.

When I received this vision, I sensed Holy Spirit calling me to seek the treasures that the Father has prepared for me each day of my life. So often, from the moment we wake up until the time we fall asleep, our thoughts can be plagued with our to-do lists. Many things need to be done, and many things need to be addressed. And depending on the urgency of those needs, it can be hard to stop and recognize the good that is before us.

However, in those moments when we feel like we’re not moving fast enough and doing enough, our thoughts are consumed with the possible future. As a result, we can miss the treasures hidden in the present moment. Therefore, Holy Spirit is calling us to slow down and take inventory.

I Am Present In Every Season

“The Winding Road” by Meghan Williams of Dyed4you Art

Jeremiah 29:13 (NASB) And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Beloved, I am present in every season of your life and fully involved in every situation you walk through. While My dwelling presence may seem more evident during times of peace and plenty, I assure you that I am with you just the same in hardship. I am faithful and have promised to never leave your side.

When difficult days come, seek My face, for I can always be found by those who seek Me passionately. As you rise to the challenge to find Me in each day and every circumstance, you will come to know a new aspect of My nature, another part of My heart. Even more, your spiritual endurance will increase, and you will discover the key to remaining connected to My kingdom at all times.

James 1:2-4 (TPT) My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up power within you to endure all things. And then as your endurance grows even stronger it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.

Making a Place for God

“Humble Ascension” by Meghan Williams of Dyed4you Art

There is a Jewish teaching that speaks of how, in the beginning, God filled all things. In order to begin the process of creation, He had to “contract” Himself to make space for the universe. This is why one of God’s names is “Ha-Makom” or “The Place,” as God is the place of all creation. This concept has alway made me think of how women “make space” within themselves for the conception and growth of new life.

The beauty in our relationship with God is that we are designed to reflect His nature. We too can “contract” or empty ourselves through the attribute of humility. Humility isn’t about stripping ourselves of our intrinsic, godly value. If anything, having a healthy sense of our self-worth helps us to recognize the value of others. From this place, we can joyfully step back and give someone else a chance to shine. Even more, we can “take a step” back in our hearts, thoughts, and daily activities so that God might shine through. You could say we have the opportunity to return the favor to Ha-Makom by making space for Him in this world.

In my personal experience, I’ve watched how powerfully the Holy Spirit moves when I intentionally make space for Him in my life. “Making space” often requires me to pause and lay down my own thoughts, motives, schedule, and agenda before taking action in a matter. It means making space for God in my day, my home, and my business. I invite His thoughts and motives to take up residence in my heart and mind.

When it comes to prayer, I try to remember that it doesn’t have to be a lonely, one-way conversation; God is faithful to respond when I give Him room to speak. And when I feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do in a situation, I know that it’s time for me to realign; I pause, choose to become an empty vessel, and I invite Holy Spirit to have His way. He will move mightily when we step back and invite Him into any situation.

Humility can be a joyful place to live from. Just as God didn’t cease to exist when He contracted and brought about creation, neither do we lose our value or purpose when we humble ourselves. If anything, our purpose and value is filled to overflowing when it is filled with the Presence of the Almighty God.

John 3:30 (ESV) He must become greater; I must become less.

Philippians 2: 5-8 (NASB) Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, as He already existed in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself by taking the form of a bond-servant and being born in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross.

Seek God’s Hidden Hand

“Held by the Everlasting Arms (Olam Zerowa)” by Meghan Williams, Dyed4you Art

Just before Purim this spring, God reminded me of the importance of looking for His “hidden hand” in our lives. In the whole book of Esther, God isn’t mentioned. There’s also no record of God speaking directly to His people or prophets. However, this doesn’t mean that He wasn’t present, moving, and speaking throughout the events that transpired. In fact, we can see how God strategically moved through different individuals to protect His people from genocide.

Come Soar with Me

Dance with Me, beloved. Hear the sound of heaven, that eternal song that calls to you and reminds that you are already home. Let your heart soar in songs of praise and worship and let your soul arise. As you worship, My presence washes and lightens your spirit, and you are caught up into My embrace. In My presence, the cares and the weights of the world will fall away, every power will bow, and all things will naturally align into their proper place. For where My Spirit is, there is freedom.

While your feet may be rooted upon the ground, worship reminds you that your life is forever rooted in Me. You are seated with Me in heavenly places, and the Kingdom of Heaven is where you eternally dwell. So come soar with Me, beloved. Bask in the delight of our unity. Let our combined joy carry you away into the heights of the Spirit, and enter My courts with song.

2 Corinthians 3:16-17 (NKJV) Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Psalm 100:4 (TPT) You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise. Come right into his presence with thanksgiving. Come bring your thank offering to him and affectionately bless his beautiful name!

A Throne-Room Perspective

“Throne Room Glory” by Meghan Williams, Dyed4you Art

There was once a point in my walk when I was afraid to have a throne room encounter with God. I was still healing from a broken sense of identity at that time, so I was certain that an encounter with Him would “put me in my place.” Certainly, the presence of the flawless Eternal One would only confirm the sense of unworthiness I felt on the inside. Yet nothing could have been further from the truth.

My encounters with the Divine have always had a way of radically transforming the way I perceive both God and myself. I begin to grasp the face of perfect love. (And no matter how many encounters I have with the Eternal, it will only really be just the beginning.) He is limitless, all-powerful, all-knowing, and truly, none can compare to Him. Yes, He is so flawless in His beauty that words often fail me. However, I am moved to spend the rest of my existence (here and in eternity) looking for ways to describe the impossible.

Yet to grasp a glimpse of the glory puts our identity into a breathtaking perspective. The One who is seated on the throne above all thrones has chosen to make His home within us. When unified, the followers of Christ are indeed a body through which the Divine moves and expresses Himself. Our relationship to Him is like a crown upon our heads.

Encounters with the presence of God restore our dignity and rightful identity as sons of God and living stones of His temple. We remember who we are, whose we are, and why we are alive. In this light, I can say it is easy for me to cast my crown before the throne. However, I no longer fear I have to cast my crown out of a sense of unworthiness. Instead, I am moved to honor my King out of gratitude and love for this precious gift of life.

Revelation 4:10-11 (AMP) the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and they worship Him who lives forever and ever; and they throw down their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they exist, and were created and brought into being.”

1 Peter 2:5 (TPT) Come and be his “living stones” who are continually being assembled into a sanctuary for God. For now you serve as holy priests, offering up spiritual sacrifices that he readily accepts through Jesus Christ.

Just Be

“Selah (Divine Interlude)” by Meghan Williams, Dyed4you Art

Just be, beloved. There is a time and season for all things—time to learn, to do, and to explore in life. However, in every moment, no matter what activity it contains, I call you to simply be. Breathe, live, and move in Me, beloved. Pause to recognize how My Spirit fills you and gives life and purpose.

In the midst of the chaos of life, it can be easy to lose sight of your connection and existence in Me. Therefore, I desire that you would make space in your days and weeks to simply pause and recognize that I Am always with you. When you come into a place of stillness in your being, you make room for My Presence to fill that space. Anxiety, doubt, and other things that grieve your soul can be replaced the Eternal One, Am your anchor point. I Am present in every moment, ready to empower and keep you through all things. Whether you take a moment, a day, or a season to pause before Me, you can be certain that that time is never wasted. Such times of rest encourage your internal focus to shift back towards Me. I Am able to refresh your soul, renew your vision, and give you spiritual fuel to continue your life’s journey.

Remember, beloved, that by My very name, I AM, I define what it means to exist. While I give you purpose to with run with and ideas to pursue, I never want you to lose sight of the fact that I first and foremost created you to simply be. Therefore, release the yoke of heavy burdens. Recognize and comprehend what it means to have your existence within Me. Make room in time and space for Me and watch as My Presence comes to fill all things.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT) For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

Psalms 46:10a (TPT) “Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God.”

Acts 17:28 (VOICE) For you know the saying, “We live in God; we move in God; we exist in God.” And still another said, “We are indeed God’s children.”
