The Weapon of Rest

“Faithful Victory” – by Meghan Williams, Dyed4you Art

Beloved, the weapons of war I have given you are mighty and unlike anything of this world. I call you this day to take another look in your arsenal for a weapon that is often overlooked and undervalued—the weapon of rest. Yes, there are times when you need to exercise your faith in an active, forceful manner. However, there are some wars that can only be won through quietness and confidence, the times when I call you to simply rest and trust in My Word.

Make Room to Receive Your Double Portion

“Invitation to Love” by Meghan Williams of Dyed4you Art

1 Samuel 1:4-5 (ESV) On the day when Elkanah sacrificed, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters. But to Hannah he gave a double portion, because he loved her, though the Lord had closed her womb.

Just as Elkanah gave Hannah a double portion out of his great love for her, though she bore him no children, so too does My boundless love extend towards you. The place of favor you have in My heart does not need to be continually earned; there is no need, for you are inherently worth loving. My eternal desire is to show My great affections toward you and lavish you in a double portion of blessing—My Spirit and My Kingdom. Will you open your heart to fully receive what I have to give?

Though I am the giver of good gifts, a gift is of no use if it is not accepted. Therefore, I am stirring your innermost being and knocking upon the doors of your heart. Will you open to Me? Will you make room to receive your double portion?

Expand your mind, beloved. Remove the limits off of Me and off of yourself. Resist the urge to box Me in by determining what you believe I would and can do for you. For through the cross, you’ve seen how far I’m willing to go for you. I hold nothing of Myself back. As you let go of false and limiting beliefs, more of My Kingdom will begin to manifest in your life. For just as the earth draws the rain, so too will your open and believing heart draw the manifestations of My love to you in surprising new ways.

Song of Solomon 5:2 (VOICE) Her: I was sleeping, but my heart was awake when I heard a sound, the sound of my love pounding at the door. Him: Open yourself to me, my sister, my dearest, my sweet dove, my flawless beauty. My head is drenched with dew; my hair is soaked with the wetness of the night.

Wings of Faith

Matthew 14:27-29 (AMPC) But instantly He spoke to them, saying, Take courage! I Am! Stop being afraid! And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water. He said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus.

My child, remember that courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is the choice you make to move in accordance with My guiding in spite of your fears. Do not fret if your heart still trembles as you take bold steps in the direction I call you. Like a muscle that becomes strengthened through constant resistance training, so your confidence will be built through repeated resistance of fear. Fear will lose its hold as you repeatedly make the choice to trust Me.

Remember, I do not call you out of familiar territory to expose your weaknesses. I am not setting you up to fail or waiting to embarrass you. On the contrary, I desire to bring forth My character and power in you. Just as some young birds do not know they can fly until their mother coaxes them to leave the nest, you too must learn of the inherent power in your wings of faith. As my child, you were created to accomplish more than you can ever comprehend. Simply let go and believe that, as your Father, I know what is best. As you learn to use your wings of faith, trust that I will not let you fall. For in My hands you will always be safe.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (AMPC) Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you.

Have Faith in My Path

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

When I set you on a path, beloved, remember that I am there with you to see My plans through. All that is required on your part is to walk in the power of your faith in Me. At times, you may find the journey to be difficult because you cannot see all the details of My plan. I have given you the destination, yet I alone know all the twists and turns in your journey. Walk along this course being certain that you will see My goodness. I urge you to yield your expectations over the details to Me. Instead, adopt an attitude of childlike wonder over this adventure. By doing so, you will be able to maintain your peace and security in Me.

I have not made this path needlessly complex; I have designed it with your good in mind. This path is encouraging spiritual growth within you that you do not yet see. For as you rely upon Me to take every step, I draw out the gifts of the Spirit I have placed within you. I desire to get you to your destination well-equipped for all I have in store for you.

When you feel uncertain or discouraged along this journey, pause and remind yourself that I have already ordained that you will succeed. I have commanded the blessing upon your life so that you will prosper wherever I send you. The words I have spoken over your life will not return to Me void; they will accomplish all I desire. And you too, beloved, will succeed in walking this path as I empower you by My Spirit.

Isaiah 55:11 (NLT) It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Philippians 4:13 (AMPC) I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

Christ’s Sufficiency

“Emboldened by the Sustaining Source” – by Meghan Williams, Dyed4you Art

Philippians 4:13 (AMP) I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]

True self-confidence isn’t a matter of full reliance in our own strength and abilities. We find confidence when our identities are properly rooted in Christ. We become like trees that are planted by rivers of water. While we are called to stand, we are not expected to do so completely in own strength; we must draw from the Sustaining Source of all life. Seasons of heat force us to stretch our roots deep to find the Word and promises of God when they seem hardest to find. We are strengthened by God’s faithfulness and upheld by His flawless character.

Bold believers may not always feel brave when they look toward seemingly insurmountable odds. It may seem like the whole world is against them. It may seem like they are outgunned and outnumbered, so to speak. Weariness in their bones and hearts may tempt them to say, “I can’t do this!” But then, they remember. They look to heaven and remember Who is for them and with them.

Bold believers draw strength from what God has spoken and done for saints of the past, and they remember how God has been faithful to His personal promises to them. Instead of bowing in defeat, bold ones learn to dig deep and call upon God to be their “very present help” again and again. And God faithfully responds to their cries by empowering them through His Spirit. God is fully able to transform our “I can’t” into “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Psalm 46:1-3 (VOICE) God is our shelter and our strength. When troubles seem near, God is nearer, and He’s ready to help. So why run and hide? No fear, no pacing, no biting fingernails. When the earth spins out of control, we are sure and fearless. When mountains crumble and the waters run wild, we are sure and fearless. Even in heavy winds and huge waves, or as mountains shake, we are sure and fearless.

Allow My Love to Lift You

“Currents of His Love {Air}” – by Meghan Williams, Dyed4you Art

2 Corinthians 12:9 (TPT) But he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.

Beloved child, you know well that I am the source and giver of your life. Your life-path is designed to be challenging so that you will continually prosper in new levels of spiritual maturity. However, your life was never meant to be burdensome. Yes, as you are faithful with the little I will entrust you with more. And with each spiritual increase, the expansion that I set before you may seem overwhelming and, at times, far outside of your power to handle. However, I never give you more than you can handle when you are willing to draw upon the strength provided by My Spirit.

You were not made to walk this life alone, forced to draw upon the resources of the fleshly and natural realm. You are born of the Spirit, and, as My child, I delight to give you everything you need. Therefore, come, beloved, abide fully in My grace. Resist the urge to let pride keep you in a state of independence. Instead, open your heart to receiving the help that you need. I will not make you feel ashamed in your weakness; indeed, I delight to lift you up and empower you so that you might flourish!

Therefore, trust My Spirit-wind to lift you and provide the support and strength beneath your wings of faith. I am faithful to carry you everywhere you need to go, and I will surely equip you for the great work I have called you to. Remain in life-union with Me, beloved, and allow My love to lift you.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMPC) The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).

John 14:16-18  (NKJV) And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Covenant Partnership

Deuteronomy 7:9 (VOICE) I want you to know that the Eternal your God is the only true God. He’s the faithful God who keeps His covenants and shows loyal love for a thousand generations to those who in return love Him and keep His commands.

As I have walked with God, there have been numerous times when He reaffirms His personal promises to me. When He does this, it is always in a time when my hope in those promises needs some resuscitation. God is so gracious. He knows how hard it is for us to hang onto His promises through the storms of life. He sees all and knows with certainty that His plan for us is good and well worth the wait. But God also knows that we desperately need His strength to hold onto His Word. As difficult as waiting on God can be at times, I have to say that I am always challenged and changed as God reveals Himself to me throughout the waiting process.

One time, when hope was waning in my heart, God showed me how invested He was in His promises to me. In an instant, I saw that the manifestation of my dreams were more than a way for Him to lavish His love and blessings upon me. Yes, He is zealous for me, and I am humbled that He cares enough to have even made such promises. However, I was reminded that through those promises, God had become my covenant partner. Like Noah, Abraham, David, and so many others, God invested His own desires, hopes, and dreams into my promises. And because I love Him so, I gladly made room for Him.

Through the years, I have watched God nurture my dreams like tiny seeds. They have flourished in His hands into something far larger than I could have ever imagined on my own. But in order to continue holding onto His ever-expanding promises, my faith has had to grow too. I am like a woman with child, and my womb has been stretched to capacity! Being pregnant with God’s promises suddenly means that more than just my own life is involved. If I stop believing in God’s promises, I will literally prevent the manifestation of His kingdom on earth.

I often wonder if Abraham understood the gravity of God’s promises to him. Even after the birth of Isaac and facing the sacrifice of his son, could Abraham have imagined what God would do through his descendants? Because Abraham chose to believe and obey God, his faith led to the birth of the nation of Israel. The nation of Israel led to the birth of the Messiah. And the Messiah ultimately has paved the way for the birthing of the sons of God. If Abraham had let go of God’s promises, there would be no gospel. There would be no outpouring of the Holy Spirit. You and I would not get to delight in covenantal union with God.

And this is basically the point of being God’s covenant partner. His kingdom come, His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. God cares for us so much that He has invested all of Himself in His promises. He is all in. God’s promises are just as much a risk for us as they are for Him. If we do not uphold them through faith, then who will? This means faith in God’s promises is about more than mental ascent—it is about mutuality, trust, loving sacrifice, and it requires radical obedience.

Romans 4:3 (VOICE) because as the Scriptures say, “Abraham believed God and trusted in His promises, so God counted it to his favor as righteousness.”

Surrender Out of Love, Not Fear

1 John 4:18 (TPT) Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.

Beloved, I would much rather you be moved to surrender out of your love for Me than by fear. You are safe with Me, and I never ask you to do anything that will not be of benefit to you. Yes, sometimes what I ask of you may be hard, and yes, I may stretch you. But I am not here to force My will upon you or arrogantly flaunt My power—love never demands or seeks its own way. Instead, I am seeking your humble agreement, alignment, and trust in My perfect will.

When fear tempts you to question My will and question My motives, simply pause and remind yourself of who I am. Understand that I am your leader, your head, and sovereign over all things. Remember that you are the apple of My eye and that all I do is done out of My great love towards you. While I will not always provide an explanation for the direction I am leading you, know that you can trust Me to always have your best interests at heart.

Yet also be aware that your submission to Me in every matter is a powerful force. Through submission, you communicate that you understand who I am and do not doubt My character or intentions towards you. You communicate to Me that you believe I am faithful. You demonstrate humility and give Me honor through your willingness to seek My desires above your own. Ultimately, you are communicating that you trust Me, and to trust Me demonstrates that you love Me. This is the very foundation of faith.

In the midst of surrender, when you walk in this level of faith, fear, distrust, or any other device of the evil one will fail to find a place in your life. Peace like a river will overtake you as you remember that you rest in the palm of My hand. Each time that you give Me your “yes” it is a powerful weapon in the spiritual realm. By submitting to Me, you are choosing to rest in My love, and you are affirming My Kingdom rule and power in your life. Rejoice, beloved, knowing that surrender is sweet! For surrender is always an opportunity for love to have its way.
